Overall vibe
Powdery, creamy and sensual, with the unmistakable feel of lipstick and vintage cosmetics. Balle Rouge opens with bright lemon, bergamot and pink pepper before settling into a plush iris and rose heart, surrounded by amber, vanilla, tonka and musk.
It is polished and feminine in spirit, but not delicate. There's something confident and slightly mischievous about it.
Longevity
Good to very good. Balle Rouge has a substantial extrait concentration, and wearer reports generally put it in the 6–8+ hour range, with some getting considerably longer.
Projection
Moderate to good. It has enough presence to be noticed without behaving like a room-filling fragrance.

Beautiful for fall, winter and spring, particularly evenings, dates, dinners and occasions when you want something polished but not overly formal. It can also work beautifully as an everyday fragrance if you love powdery iris and cosmetic scents.

If you like Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose, Balle Rouge is worth trying. Both have that unmistakable lipstick/cosmetic quality, but Balle Rouge is creamier and warmer, with iris, vanilla and tonka giving it more softness and sweetness.
If you like Dior Féve Délicieuse, you'll find something familiar in the drydown. Balle Rouge has the same kind of creamy tonka/vanilla warmth, but its iris, rose and cosmetic character make it much more of a powdery floral than a gourmand.
