Overall vibe:
A cool, atmospheric fragrance that moves between citrus, green violet leaf, mineral freshness, soft florals, incense, and salty amber. OBORO isn't an obvious "fresh" fragrance or a traditional woody scent. It has an almost misty quality—as though bergamot and ginger are suspended in humid air before gradually giving way to wet stone, green leaves, soft violet, and warm, salty skin.

It's clean, mineral, slightly earthy, subtly smoky, and quietly sensual. There is something beautifully blurred about it: the individual notes never seem to completely separate from one another.

Longevity:

Good. Early reports are encouraging, with Parfumo currently rating longevity around 7.4/10. One early wearer reported approximately six hours of gentle wear, while others describe it as lasting considerably longer on skin or clothing.

Projection:

Soft to moderate. OBORO is much more atmospheric than forceful. It creates a cool, hazy aura around the wearer rather than projecting aggressively. One early reviewer specifically described it as having intimate projection and another called it a fragrance that sits close to the skin.

  • Spring
  • Summer
  • Rainy or humid days
  • Daytime
  • Office and professional settings
  • Museums, galleries, and quiet environments

  • Casual evenings
  • Anytime you want something understated but unusual

Best for:

  • Lovers of unusual fresh fragrances
  • People who enjoy mineral or "wet stone" accords
  • Fans of violet leaf
  • Those who like atmospheric, slightly abstract perfumes
  • Incense lovers who don't want a heavy incense fragrance
  • Anyone looking for a sophisticated unisex scent
  • Byredo collectors
  • People who want something distinctive without being loud

If you like X, you'll love OBORO:

  • If you like Byredo De Los Santos, you'll appreciate OBORO's dry, atmospheric, slightly spiritual quality, although OBORO is cooler, greener and more mineral.
  • If you like Byredo Gypsy Water, you'll recognize the airy, naturalistic quality, but OBORO is wetter, greener and more abstract.
  • If you like D'ORSAY Love After Rain K.M., this is a particularly interesting comparison. Both capture the atmosphere after rain, but Love After Rain is much more iris/powder focused, while OBORO is greener, more mineral, salty and incense-tinged.
  • If you like Louis Vuitton Pacific Chill, you'll appreciate OBORO's fresh, humid quality, although Pacific Chill is much fruitier and more cheerful. OBORO is cooler and more contemplative.
  • If you like Le Labo Baie 19, OBORO is worth sampling. Both explore the atmospheric sensation of rain and wet surroundings, but OBORO is warmer and more floral/woody, while Baie 19 is more overtly petrichor-driven.
