FRAGRANCE NOTES "O"

Fragrance notes beginning with O include some of the most expensive and rare materials in the world, specifically in the resinous and earthy categories.

Oakmoss: A bitter, earthy, and forest-like lichen that provides the "soul" of Chypre fragrances.

Oatmeal: A cereal-like, warm, and nutty note used in comforting, "skin-scent" compositions.

Olibanum (Frankincense): A resinous, citrus-peppery, and smoky incense note used for thousands of years in spiritual and royal perfumes.

Olive Leaf: A dry, green, and slightly herbal note that adds a Mediterranean feel.

Opuntia (Prickly Pear): A watery, sweet, and green cactus fruit note.

Orange Blossom: Distilled from the same tree as Neroli but using a different process, it is sweeter, deeper, and more "indolic" (fleshy).

Orchid: A diverse fantasy note that ranges from spicy and exotic to sweet and "clean" depending on the species replicated.

Orris Root: Derived from the iris plant, it takes years to process and offers a luxurious, buttery, and powdery aroma that is the "gold standard" for elegant scents.

Osmanthus: An apricot-colored flower that smells like velvety peaches and soft leather.

Oud (Agarwood): One of the most expensive raw materials in the world; it is dark, smoky, musty, and woody with animalic facets.

Ozone: A synthetic "air" note that mimics the smell of a thunderstorm, electricity, or crisp mountain air.
